"In October of 2007 I reluctantly enrolled in CCR. I say reluctantly because I have always tried to honor any contractual agreement that I enter into. My spouse and I are both pursuing Ph.D.s full-time, and have minimal incomes as I work 2 part-time hourly-wage jobs, and my husband was a product of layoffs and has remained under-employed ever since in smaller part-time jobs for the last 18 months. "Hello. I just wanted to write and say how wonderful everyone has been from the beginning process to where we are now. We still have a way's to go but we are in good hands. I believe in this program and when we started this we felt we had no way out; we have HOPE
now. With the gas prices up and everything else up we are feeling the crunch. Instead of coming home for lunch my husband takes his lunch to work and at the grocery store I get things that I can stretch out for a couple of days like chili, spaghetti, beans, pasta, etc:

My thermostat is set at 78-80 degrees. I open windows on cooler days. I do my laundry at night and wash in cold water instead of hot. We have started a vegetable garden and plan to can a lot of food. We also go to outlet stores for day old bread (and) for discounted canned items and food - all of this has helped a lot. We cut out food coupons and go shopping every two weeks and stock up what we can.

It's the little things like turning out lights you don't need; taking a short shower instead of a long one; cutting the grass every two weeks instead of every week. Also you can carpool whenever you can. If you have ceiling fans, use them; we keep ours on all the time. Well I hope this helps."
