FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does it take to complete the Credit Card Relief program?
The length of time in the program is determined by you and your underwriting specialist during the enrollment process. Success is determined sticking to the plan and allocating adequate money to a Trust account we establish for you for the future benefit of your creditors.  We've settled accounts in days and months instead of the often times painful and costly scenarios that may take years if you go it alone.  One thing is certain, we are able achieve results that save our clients a lot of time and money.

Does everybody who joins the program graduate?
Unfortunately this is not always the case. During times of high unemployment and great economic challenges, financial situations change and so does ones ability to keep up with financial commitments. In these times, we experience dropouts and cancellations for various reasons, but for those who make their monthly payments to the Enrolled Members Trust, they do very well in our program as evidenced by the over $200 million dollars in unsecured debt that we have settled for thousands of clients.

What is an Attorney Driven Program?
Credit Card Relief is the original attorney driven credit card debt compromise program in the country. Credit Card Relief is not consumer credit counseling, not a consolidation loan program, and it is not a debt settlement company.  We are a bankruptcy alternative providing debt mediation and debt negotiation services through licensed attorneys.

Your program Attorney works for you and provides only the specific services you need.  Upon your approval and prior to each and every settlement, your Program Attorney will make offers of compromise to your Creditors which result in negotiated settlements at a discount.  The steps taken by you and your program Attorney will result in significant savings in future interest and get you out of debt in months instead of years.

get up to ten collection calls a day.  How can I stop these calls?  Can you help?
Unfortunately collection calls are part of the process and these calls are the primary means by which the creditors will contact you to collect any outstanding debt. Federal laws, and most state statutes, allow creditors to call you to collect these debts.  However, Creditors do not have the right to be abusive, threatening, or call you at work when you have specifically advised them that you are not able to take calls at your place of employment.

We have been successful in limiting collection calls and preventing calls to your workplace. In addition if you receive threatening or abusive calls, contact us immediately so we can notify your program Attorney. Telephone harassment, threats and other scare tactics are prohibited by federal law.

In many cases, we don't advise immediate issuance of a "cease and desist order" from your program Attorney to your Creditor, as this can slow down the settlement process. Anytime you feel overwhelmed with the calls, please call our Professional Services Department for assistance. The good news is that the calls will eventually stop.  And if you follow the program guidelines and make timely payments to the Trust account, your debts will be settled at a discount in months instead of years saving your thousands of dollars.

For additional information, please listen to the podcast on How to Handle Collection Calls and please don't hesitate to call us for help.

I've been threatened with a law suit by one of my creditors.  If I join your program will you be able to help me?
Although it is the exception and not the rule, occasionally our clients will be sued by creditors or third party collectors (collection agencies).  If you receive a letter from a law firm representing a creditor on one of the debts you have enrolled in the program, please call the Professional Services Department immediately, as time is of the essence in matters such as this.

Although we cannot accompany you to court, your Program Attorney will contact the law firm who wrote to you or filed a complaint (law suit) against you and try to make a settlement  before you go to court.  We will do everything we can under the terms of our limited engagement to try and prevent a judgment, garnishment, or lien on any property you might own.
